Internships for Summer 2026 - Washington, DC

Interns will advance AFPI’s mission through the following departments. This is a full time, in-person internship. Interns will receive a monthly stipend. Please specify your top 2-3 departments when applying as well as your availability for the summer term (June-August). The formal application window is January 1st through February 20th.   • Policy: Policy Interns will help advance AFPI’s mission by conducting research, assisting in drafting content, and coordinating tasks amongst AFPI's policy centers. Policy initiatives include Agriculture, Energy & Environment, Homeland Security & Immigration, Trade & Economics, Election Integrity, National Security, China Policy Initiative, Families First Campaign, Higher Education, AI & Emerging Technology. Policy Interns are expected to be organized and have strong writing and research skills.
  • Communications: The Communications Intern will assist with all aspects of communication and press. This intern will cultivate media relationships, assist in interview and media preparation, research special projects, and advance AFPI’s research and policy work. Qualified candidates will have superior writing skills.
  • Development: The Development Intern will assist AFPI’s Development team through donor correspondence, CRM maintenance, thank you calls, donor research, event management, stewardship, and donor communications. The Development Intern is expected to have strong writing and interpersonal skills.
  • Digital: The Digital Intern will help development and implement content and strategies for social media platforms. Responsibilities include analyzing engagement data, identifying trends in customer interactions, assisting in planning digital campaigns, and managing content creation.
  • Events: The Events Intern will help plan, coordinate, and execute AFPI events including speakers series, policy summits, trainings, and galas. Responsibilities include communicating with stakeholders, planning event details and logistics, and event day set up and management. Candidates must have strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Government Affairs: The Government Affairs Intern will support the Government Affairs team by coordinating external engagements with Governors as well as leaders in select state legislatures, the U.S. Senate, and the U.S. House of Representatives. Responsibilities include creating and maintaining various email lists, drafting correspondence, and preparing and compiling materials for meetings with elected officials and staff. Candidates will be expected to have strong writing and interpersonal skills.
  • America 250 Civics Education Coalition: The America 250 Civics Education Coalition Intern will support the Coalition’s mission to strengthen civics education and engagement in preparation for the 250th anniversary of the United States. This intern will assist with research, coalition coordination, event planning, and resource development. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, enthusiastic about civic learning, and eager to contribute to a collaborative, fast-paced initiative with national impact.
  • Operations: The Operations Intern will help advance AFPI’s mission by assisting with facility, office, and inventory management, personnel coordination, and finance. The Operations Intern is expected to be organized and works well in a fast-paced environment.
