Senior Policy Analyst, Homeland Security and Immigration Policy
Overall Responsibility: The America First Policy Institute (AFPI) is seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Senior Policy Analyst to support its Homeland Security and Immigration team. Reporting to the Director of Homeland Security and Immigration, the Senior Policy Analyst will contribute to the development of policy materials, track legislative activity, and support communications efforts related to border security, immigration enforcement, and homeland security issues. This position is ideal for a policy professional with strong research and writing skills who is eager to shape meaningful policy through a mission-driven organization.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Conduct policy research and analysis on issues related to homeland security, border enforcement, immigration systems, and national sovereignty
- Draft memos, policy briefs, fact sheets, and longer-form publications under the guidance of the Director
- Track federal and state legislative and regulatory developments relevant to immigration and homeland security
- Support the drafting of op-eds, talking points, and communications materials in coordination with the Communications team
- Assist in the development of AFPI’s annual policy agenda and contribute to ongoing strategic planning for the policy vertical
- Participate in internal and external policy briefings, forums, and meetings, representing AFPI’s mission and priorities professionally
- Help organize and support events hosted by AFPI, including panel discussions, roundtables, and stakeholder briefings
- Provide general support to the Homeland Security and Immigration team, including coordination of intern work, research assistance, and editing

Qualifications:
- Demonstrated alignment with AFPI’s mission, including a strong belief in the importance of constitutional liberties, secure borders, and national sovereignty
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in public policy, political science, law, national security, or a related field preferred
- 3–6 years of experience in homeland security, immigration policy, or a related field, ideally within government, think tanks, or public policy organizations
- Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to produce accurate, well-sourced, and clearly written policy content
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with comfort managing multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and tone
- Experience monitoring legislation and policy developments at the federal or state level
- Professionalism, sound judgment, and discretion when handling sensitive policy matters
