AFPI and America First Mayors’ Council Chair Condemn NYC Mayoral Outcome

Washington D.C.New York City has long served as a gateway to the American Dream, a shining example of American ingenuity and grit. Today, the mayoral election in New York City marks a major shift away from the American dream and towards the nightmare of Marxism.

America First Policy Institute President (AFPI) President and CEO Greg Sindelar condemned the Marxist policy proposals of the winner of the New York mayoral election. He reaffirmed the America First commitment to policies that support opportunity and strong local governance:

“New York’s shift towards Marxist ideology should serve as a warning to Americans across the nation. When leaders weaken law enforcement and promote policies that drive out business, the result is hardship for the very people they claim to help. But not all hope is lost. Across America, local leaders like those on the America First Mayors’ Council are grounding their policy in America First principles. While this may be a setback, the American Dream is stronger than any political shift. We will continue championing policies that allow Americans to dream, build, and succeed.”

Mayor Scott Singer, Chair of the America First Mayors’ Council, underscored the importance of strong, America First mayoral leadership in safeguarding residents’ safety and well-being:

“Mayors have as much, and often more, impact on Americans’ daily lives than their state and federal officials. When local policies fail, citizens can feel the consequences immediately. The policy proposals in New York City are a recipe for violence, economic decline, and worsening housing shortages. Our Mayors’ Council stands for America First policies that empower and protect the people we serve - policies that give citizens the opportunity to thrive, not punish them for pursuing success.”

Stephanie Whitt, Chief State Action and Engagement Officer emphasized the importance of supporting leaders who will protect the American Dream, not disparage it:

“America needs local leaders who believe in the American Dream and will protect it for generations to come. For countless families across the country, their stories begin in New York - arriving through its ports in search of freedom and opportunity. Today, its city leaders are promoting failed Marxist economic experiments, undermining the principles that made New York a beacon of hope for so many.”
