One Year Since California Palisades Disaster: State Government Mismanagement Continues
Washington, D.C. – Today marks the one-year anniversary of the tragic Palisades fire in California, which destroyed 23,700 acres and damaged over 6,800 structures. The damage and pain have not ceased as America-last policies continue to harm those in the Golden State.
Former CA Congressman Mike Garcia, Chairman of America First California, issued the following statement:
“The deadly Palisades Fire that destroyed the homes and businesses of thousands of Californians was the direct result of poor policies pushed by America-last leaders. In the year since the fire, we have seen that same mismanagement lead to slow recovery at every turn. Radical environmental ideologies set the stage for a disaster and then turned it in to a yearlong, man-made crisis. Neighborhoods remain in ruin, and a majority of families are still waiting to rebuild.”
Garcia continued, “Californians deserve America First policies that allow for swift action, focus on recovery, and restore human flourishing. Instead, they’ve received sky rocketing state costs, endless permitting delays, a broken insurance market, and state officials that have abandoned them at their darkest hour.”
Families who lost everything should be given the tools to rebuild, not be forced to battle with their own state government. Californians are ready for a brighter future, and America First policies will make that future possible.
