Richard Lawson

Vice Chair, Litigation

Giving money and power to government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys.

- P.J. O’Rourke

With broad public sector experience with civil and criminal enforcement, Richard works with the legal team at the America First Policy Institute to advance the America First agenda through impact litigation.

Prior to joining AFPI, Richard served Attorney General Pam Bondi as a Deputy Associate Attorney General. Richard’s extensive public sector experience involves service as a state and federal prosecutor as well as serving as the Director of the Florida Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division. While in private practice Richard was part of President Trump’s litigation team challenging his being de-platformed by Big Tech.

A native Floridian, Richard enjoys introducing his children to the agonies of being a Gator fan, reading history books, and attending the opera.
