Yusuf Mahmood
Director of AI and Emerging Technology

Yusuf is originally from Baltimore, Maryland and he is currently serving as Director of AI and Emerging Technology at AFPI. Prior to joining, Yusuf worked part-time during law school at RAND, where he focused on energy deregulation for U.S. AI leadership. He was also a law clerk at Senator Todd Young’s office, where he focused on AI policy. In 2025, he graduated from Harvard Law School, where he founded the Harvard AI Law and Policy Association and was a member of the Harvard Federalist Society. Yusuf received two B.A.s in economics and philosophy at the University of Maryland, College Park. In his free time, he enjoys playing music, hiking, reading, and enjoying America’s national parks.
