Campaign Director, Education Freedom

Overall Responsibility:

The Campaign Director, Education Freedom, will lead the Education Freedom policy campaign at the America First Policy Institute (AFPI), driving forward the campaign’s objectives with a strong emphasis on policy innovation, strategic engagement, coalition-building, and public communication. This role will focus on advancing the America First vision for empowering parents, expanding school choice, and restoring academic excellence and patriotic education in America’s schools. The Education Freedom campaign seeks to transform education across the nation by promoting policies that expand educational choice, defend parental rights, eliminate ideological indoctrination in the classroom, and restore a quality K–12 and postsecondary education rooted in American values and civic responsibility. The Campaign Director will report to the Executive Director and Chief Strategy Officer and work closely with the Campaign Chair, Chief Policy Officer, and senior AFPI leadership to ensure the success of the campaign’s strategic goals and operations.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Lead and execute the strategic development of the campaign’s objectives, research agenda, content production, stakeholder engagement, and amplification efforts in close coordination with the Campaign Chair and AFPI leadership.
  • Manage and oversee deliverables, reporting, and timelines, ensuring high-quality outputs such as bi-weekly reports, policy briefs, presentations, and stakeholder materials.
  • Collaborate with AFPI senior staff and policy leadership to align the campaign’s goals and actions with AFPI’s broader institutional priorities.
  • Build and strengthen coalitions with policymakers, state leaders, advocacy organizations, and education reform groups to promote Education Freedom priorities.
  • Coordinate cross-campaign initiatives with other AFPI policy campaigns, identifying areas of overlap and joint messaging opportunities.
  • Champion AFPI’s servant leadership culture and uphold the organization’s commitment to advancing America First principles through education policy.
  • Maintain oversight of internal team dynamics, including project coordination, performance expectations, and regular feedback cycles.
  • Other duties as assigned in support of the mission.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant experience in project or campaign management, education policy, government affairs, or think tank leadership.
  • Deep understanding of K–12 and/or higher education policy, including school choice, curriculum standards, education funding models, and parental rights.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and communicate complex policy issues, particularly around legislative, regulatory, or legal frameworks in education.
  • Strong writing, research, and messaging skills with an ability to translate policy ideas into public-facing material.
  • A track record of team leadership, deadline management, and delivering high-quality policy products.
  • Demonstrated commitment to free-market principles, parental rights, and the foundational values of American education.
  • Proven ability to build collaborative relationships with stakeholders and maintain the integrity and public reputation of AFPI.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a drive to grow and enhance the campaign's impact.
