Director of Campaign Communications
Overall Responsibility:
The America First Policy Institute (AFPI) is seeking a strategic and driven Director of Campaign Communications to lead the development and execution of communications strategies across AFPI’s nine policy campaigns. Reporting to the Director of Communications, this role is responsible for ensuring each campaign has a tailored, high-impact media strategy that advances AFPI’s mission and enhances the visibility of its policy priorities. The Director of Campaign Communications will oversee campaign communications managers, coordinate media engagement efforts, and support the long-term growth of AFPI’s media presence among conservative audiences.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Serve as the primary POC for our nine policy campaigns, working with each campaign to develop strategic priorities, communications plans to elevate awareness of AFPI’s work in that space, and ensure clear, consistent messaging.
- Oversee communications managers who are assigned policy campaign portfolios, ensuring that updates and developments are shared with communications leadership.
- Assist in all stages of media prep for AFPI interviewees, as assigned.
- Both ensure we are capitalizing on current media opportunities regarding our goals and issues, while also building out longer term plans that will help AFPI grow our media footprint and awareness in the eyes of conservatives.
- As appropriate, partner with the Digital Team to take existing comms work and revamp it into website and social media content.

Qualifications:
- A commitment to advancing AFPI’s mission, rooted in constitutional liberties, free-market principles, and a servant-leadership approach.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Political Science, or a related field; relevant professional experience may substitute for formal education.
- Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in communications, public affairs, or media relations—ideally in a public policy, political, or think tank setting.
- Demonstrated experience in campaign communications strategy, message development, and media engagement.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with experience overseeing direct reports or cross-functional teams.
- Exceptional communication skills—both written and verbal—with a strong portfolio of policy-related content.
- Ability to identify media opportunities, craft long-term communications strategies, and tailor content for a range of audiences.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment with competing priorities and tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with media tracking tools, analytics platforms, and digital content workflows.
- Strong judgment, integrity, and professionalism in handling sensitive information and public representation.
