Overall Responsibility:


The American First Policy Institute (AFPI) is seeking an Events Manager to lead the planning and execution of AFPI’s robust events program. The qualified applicant should possess a deep respect for American liberty and freedom and an eagerness to be a champion for the American people and the America First Agenda.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Advance the AFPI mission through well-organized and impactful events.
  • Report directly to the Director of Events.
  • Oversee a team that serves every department in event execution.
  • Manage all aspects of event planning and logistics, including:
    • Developing event strategies and plans aligned with AFPI’s goals.
    • Drafting and approving event plans, timelines, and invitations.
    • Leading communication with internal stakeholders and external partners.
    • Negotiating and managing vendor contracts.
    • Overseeing event budgets, expenses, and financial reporting.
    • Directing the building and maintenance of invite lists and guest communications.
    • Ensuring high-quality, consistent execution through best practices, checklists, and post-event evaluations.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the Events team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Previous experience managing events and supervising staff or contractors is strongly preferred.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in event management, hospitality, marketing, public relations, or a related field; advanced degree a plus.
  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience planning, coordinating, and executing high-profile in-person, virtual, and hybrid events, ideally within a nonprofit, advocacy, or policy-focused environment.
  • Proven success managing events from concept to completion, including conferences, roundtables, fundraisers, and strategic convenings.
  • Strong understanding of event strategy as a tool to advance organizational mission, brand visibility, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple events and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent vendor and venue management experience, including negotiating contracts, managing budgets, and overseeing event production teams.
  • Professional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface confidently with VIPs, speakers, policymakers, donors, and senior leadership.
  • Experience developing event collateral, such as run-of-show documents, invitations, signage, and briefing materials.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across internal teams, including communications, policy, and development, to ensure alignment on event goals.
  • Flexibility to travel and work outside normal business hours as needed for event execution.
