America First Policy Institute Supports Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ Final Rule
Washington, DC - Today, the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) issued the following statement regarding the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) pro-patient rule change on price transparency.
“The President has taken unprecedented actions to give patients more visibility and accountability with their health care dollars. This new rule expands patients’ ability to make informed decisions about their health care dollars and helps level the playing field between hospitals and independent physician offices while saving patients money” said Charlie Katebi, Deputy Director of Healthy America.
“By enacting Site Neutral Medicare payment policies for drug administration services, eliminating the overly-prescriptive Inpatient Only list, and strengthening hospital price transparency requirements, this Administration is demonstrating its commitment to empowering doctor-patient decision making and promoting fairness and affordability in our health care system.”
Recently, HHS finalized the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ Hospital Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS) and Ambulatory Surgical Center Final Rule and its policies will take effect in the new year, lowering out-of-pocket cost while expanding access to outpatient services and procedures. AFPI welcomes these extremely important changes and thanks the current administration for its commitment to improving Americans’ healthcare cost and experience.
