Matthew is from Columbus, Ohio, and serves as the Interim Chief Government Affairs Officer for the America First Policy Institute (AFPI), where he leverages extensive success in public policy and political strategy to shape legislation at the highest levels of government. His leadership at AFPI has been pivotal in achieving significant policy victories. He managed AFPI's successful multi-state campaign to defeat the $6 trillion Build Back Better bill in 2021, an effort uniting over 130 conservative organizations in the Save America Coalition. His strategic direction was also instrumental in passing 122 America First policies into law, advancing 250 related policies through committee, and successfully confirming a key executive cabinet official for the Trump Administration well ahead of schedule.

Matthew's policy acumen builds on a deep foundation of political and legislative experience. He has held senior positions on 17 political campaigns and served in both the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate. Earlier in his career, he was the lead consultant for School Choice Ohio’s landmark 2011 legislation, which doubled educational choice opportunities across the state. Beyond the political arena, Mr. Henderson has advised Fortune 100 companies and a leading trade association. Most recently, with a Top 50 global public relations firm, he managed public affairs for web3 and blockchain clients across the United States, Canada, and Europe.
