Chief Economist

Overall Responsibility:

The America First Policy Institute (AFPI) is seeking an accomplished Chief Economist to lead the Institute’s economic research and policy development efforts. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in economic analysis, a strong commitment to America First principles, and an exceptional ability to translate complex economic data into clear, impactful policy recommendations. The Chief Economist will ensure that AFPI’s economic output is rigorous, timely, and influential in shaping national policy debates, particularly on issues of national sovereignty, economic strength, and American prosperity.

Responsibilities and Duties:

· Develop and lead AFPI’s economic research agenda, working closely with policy directors and executive leadership to address critical national issues.

· Conduct original economic research and provide expert analysis to inform AFPI’s policy recommendations, advocacy efforts, and public communications.

· Oversee the production and dissemination of economic reports, white papers, and policy briefs, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with America First principles.

· Serve as the Institute’s lead economic spokesperson in public forums, media appearances, policy discussions, and stakeholder engagements.

· Provide economic analysis to support policy and legislative education campaigns.

· Supervise and mentor a team of economists and research fellows, fostering a culture of academic rigor, excellence, and innovation.

· Ensure all economic publications comply with professional standards for research integrity and style guidelines.

· Collaborate with communications and development teams to amplify the impact of AFPI’s economic research across platforms.

· Track economic trends, legislative proposals, and regulatory developments to ensure AFPI remains proactive and responsive.

· Support additional organizational initiatives, including contributing to cross-sector research and internal policy development.

Consults With:

Research staff, policy experts, executive leadership, communications and development teams, external partners, policymakers, and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

· Advanced degree (Ph.D. strongly preferred) in economics, public policy, finance, or a related field.

· Minimum of 10 years of experience in economic research, policy analysis, or leadership roles within think tanks, academia, government, or major policy organizations.

· Proven track record of producing high-quality economic research that influences public policy.

· Deep understanding of and commitment to America First policies, including economic nationalism, free enterprise, job creation, and fiscal responsibility.

· Exceptional writing, editing, and analytical skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively.

· Strong familiarity with economic modeling, econometrics, and applied data analysis.

· Outstanding organizational and project management abilities, capable of balancing multiple high-priority initiatives in a fast-paced environment.

· Excellent public speaking skills and media experience, with the ability to advocate effectively before diverse audiences.

· Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with policymakers, scholars, and other stakeholders.

· Knowledge of federal legislative and regulatory processes is highly desirable.
