Fall Semester Law Clerk
Overall Responsibility:
The America First Policy Institute (AFPI) is seeking motivated law students with a passion for public interest litigation. The qualified applicant should possess a deep respect of American liberty and constitutional law, and an eagerness to challenge legal precedent and convention in the service of both.
This law clerk will work to blaze new pathways that protect and defend America First policies and constitutional freedoms against the egregious overreach of Big Government.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Law clerks will assist in executing AFPI’s legal mission and will be active participants in complex litigation and policy work. The Law Clerk will support the legal team by assisting with legal research, drafting, compliance reviews, litigation support, and analysis of federal and state legal and regulatory developments. Their primary duties include conducting legal research, preparing legal memoranda, and assisting with the drafting and review of litigation and policy documents. Clerks will also review federal and state regulatory policies and enforcement actions. They will support litigation by organizing records, tracking case developments, and reviewing filings. Additional duties include assisting with compliance matters, monitoring legal and regulatory developments, and providing general research and administrative support to attorneys and senior Legal Affairs staff.
Qualifications:
Law clerks must be current law students, preferred 3L, but qualified 2L students will be considered. They must possess strong reading, research, writing, and communication skills. They must be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment, work collaboratively, and actively support AFPI’s mission to put the American people first. Full commitment to AFPI’s vision for constitutional restoration is just as important as the core competencies necessary to serve as a law clerk.
Location:
AFPI strongly prefers in-person work from its Washington, D.C. office, which fosters cross-disciplinary collaboration. However, remote work arrangements will be considered for exceptional candidates.
Type of Employment:
Full-Time
This position is compensated in accordance with prevailing market rates for law clerks. Please apply with a cover letter, resume, salary requirement, and references.
AFPI is a non-profit, non-partisan research institute offering competitive salaries and benefits to qualified candidates.
