Healthcare Senior Policy Analyst
Overall Responsibility:
The America First Policy Institute (AFPI) is seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Healthcare Senior Policy Analyst to support its healthcare policy efforts. Reporting to the Director of Healthcare Policy, the Healthcare Policy Analyst will contribute to the development of policy materials, track legislative and regulatory activity, and support communications efforts focused on advancing affordability, innovation, and accountability within the American healthcare system.
This includes issues related to making Americans healthy again by public health and prevention, reforms to insurance markets, Medicare and Medicaid policy, regulatory reform, pharmaceutical policy, public health, and healthcare choice. This position is ideal for a policy professional with strong research and writing skills who is eager to advance in principled, America First, mission-driven policy work.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Conduct policy research and analysis on conservative healthcare reforms, including public health and prevention, market-based insurance reforms, fraud prevention, regulatory reform, health savings accounts (HSAs), price transparency, pharmaceutical competition, and state-driven innovation
- Develop policy proposals that promote a patients-first mentality through competition, affordability, and accountability within the healthcare system
- Draft memos, policy briefs, fact sheets, model legislative language, and longer-form publications under the guidance of the Director
- Track and analyze federal and state legislative and regulatory developments impacting healthcare markets
- Support the drafting of op-eds, testimony, talking points, and communications materials in coordination with the Communications team
- Participate in internal and external briefings, coalition meetings, and public forums, representing AFPI’s mission and healthcare priorities professionally
- Provide general support to the healthcare policy team, including research assistance, editing, and coordination of interns’ work
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated alignment with AFPI’s mission and a strong commitment to advancing America First healthcare policy solutions
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in public policy, health economics, law, public health, political science, or a related field preferred
- 3–6 years of experience in healthcare policy, health economics, regulatory policy, or related fields, ideally within policy organizations, government, think tanks, or research institutions
- Strong analytical writing and editing ability, with the capacity to translate complex healthcare policy issues into clear, persuasive, and well-reasoned recommendations
- Working knowledge of federal healthcare programs and state-level healthcare reform efforts
