AFPI Applauds EPA Decision Certifying Cleveland’s Compliance with Ozone Standards

WASHINGTON, D.C.— The America First Policy Institute (AFPI) applauds EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin’s decision to recognize that Ohio has met the 2015 ozone standard in the Cleveland area.

“The EPA’s decision is a welcome victory for common sense, sound science, and the people who keep this state working,” said Ted Ellis, Director for the Power America Campaign and Deputy Director for Energy & Environment. “It confirms that federal regulators should follow the facts when a state has demonstrated compliance.”

AFPI emphasized that the decision is an important signal that environmental progress and economic growth can go hand in hand.

“This is a significant step for manufacturers, workers, and families who deserve relief from uncertainty and red tape,” said Travis Ricketts, State Action Manager, America First Ohio. “We applaud this decision from EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin and EPA Region 5 Administrator Anne Vogel and commend this practical step that respects both clean air and economic growth.”

Over the last year, President Trump and Administrator Zeldin have achieved meaningful reform by removing bureaucratic barriers, decisions that have allowed Ohio to compete more effectively for business.

AFPI will continue advancing policies that safeguard America’s energy potential, lower consumer energy costs, and promote a transparent, fair regulatory environment.
