AFPI Applauds Trump Administration Call for Federal AI Framework
Washington, DC – The America First Policy Institute (AFPI) issued the following statement in response to President Trump’s signed Executive Order on AI. The order, “Ensuring a National Policy Framework for Artificial Intelligence”, discusses the importance of the United States securing and maintaining global AI dominance and lays out guidelines for a national AI framework.
“We applaud President Trump for calling for a unified national approach to AI governance. This Executive Order correctly identifies the threat posed by state laws that mandate ideological outcomes in AI systems, calling on Congress to establish a federal framework that protects children, prevents censorship, respects copyrights, and safeguards communities,” said Yusuf Mahmood, AFPI Director of AI and Emerging Technology. “AFPI is working to develop recommendations for consideration in a federal framework that addresses concerns around children and workers, builds strategic awareness of AI in government, addresses the role of state regulatory input, and promotes transparency into AI development.”
In November 2025, AFPI announced “Winning the AI Race,” a $10 million, three-year initiative to build the first comprehensive, conservative, human-centered artificial intelligence strategy in the country. This marks the most significant investment by the conservative movement into AI policy, workforce development, and technology leadership. More information is available here.
