Washington, D.C. — Today, the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) proudly announced the formation of the America Combats Trafficking Initiative, a bold national effort to convene leaders and develop America First policies in the fight to eradicate human trafficking.

Bob Unanue has been appointed as chair of this important initiative. A founding member of AFPI, Unanue also serves as Chair of the Hispanic Leadership coalition and on the board of AFPI. Unanue previously served as President and CEO of Goya Foods, the largest Hispanic-owned food company in the U.S., where he launched Goya Cares, a global initiative fighting child trafficking and promoting teen mental health. Unanue also executive produced the film Sound of Freedom, based on Tim Ballard’s mission to rescue trafficked children in Colombia.

Under Unanue’s leadership, the America Combats Trafficking Initiative will mobilize partners across government, law enforcement, NGO and faith communities to expose evil, empower the innocent and defend trafficking victims.

“AFPI is deeply honored to have Bob Unanue lead this vital initiative,” said Greg Sindelar, interim president and CEO of AFPI. “His decades of experience in business and philanthropy, combined with his passion for protecting the most vulnerable, make him the right leader at the right time.”

“I can think of no more important work than protecting and saving those being victimized by these evil traffickers,” said Unanue. “This effort will unite and mobilize the great work already being done by partners across government, law enforcement and faith organizations to put an end to the exploitation and abuse of children because God’s most precious creations are not for sale!”

More information about the initiative's inaugural efforts will be announced in the coming weeks.
