AFPI Names Laura Cunliffe as Senior Director of Policy
Washington D.C.— Today, the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) named Laura Cunliffe as Senior Director of Policy adding seasoned policy and management expertise to the leadership at AFPI. Most recently, Cunliffe was a Senior Fellow at the Independent Women's Forum (IWF), co-chairing a project focused on regulatory reform and administrative change.
Prior to her time at IWF, Cunliffe was Executive Director and Vice President of Policy at Family Watch International, an international education organization that works in countries around the world promoting policies and programs that strengthen the family, protect the best interest of children and provide the best outcomes for women and men. Cunliffe served all four years in the first Trump Administration, as Chief of Staff at the U.S. Mission to the UN in Geneva, Switzerland, in senior budget and policy roles at the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), and as Special Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy at the Domestic Policy Council (DPC). Previously, she entered government service through the Presidential Management Fellows (PMF) program and served for six years at the U.S. Departments of Agriculture and Education. Cunliffe started her career as a Teach for America (TFA) middle school teacher in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she also participated as a Center for Reinventing School Systems School Board Fellow and won the Spangler Award grant for excellence in teaching.

Cunliffe received her J.D. from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University and her B.A. in English at Wheaton College in Illinois.
