AFPI Releases New Issue Brief on Strengthening AI Readiness Across Federal Government
Washington, DC – The America First Policy Institute (AFPI) has released a new issue brief, “Building AI Readiness in the U.S. Government,” outlining comprehensive strategies for policymakers to ensure the American government is prepared to lead in the age of artificial intelligence.
“The federal government cannot win the AI race from the sidelines,” said Jack Crovitz, AFPI Senior Fellow for AI and Emerging Technology. “Without the talent, tools, and foresight to understand and deploy AI, the U.S. risks falling behind in economic competitiveness and endangering our national security.”
The report explains that the federal government must take bold steps to stay on pace with private industry and ahead of foreign adversaries. It proposes a concrete readiness agenda across three priority areas: recruiting top AI talent into government, accelerating AI adoption across federal agencies, and building institutional hubs of strategic foresight to anticipate tomorrow’s challenges before they become crises.
Key recommendations include expanding programs like the U.S. Tech Force, streamlining AI procurement processes, and strengthening critical institutions such as the Center for AI Standards and Innovation (CAISI).
