AFPI Releases New White Paper to Prevent Biased Debanking Through Congressional Action
Washington D.C.— Today, the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) published a new white paper, “Debanked: When Political Bias Trumps Financial Judgement,” researched and written by Jill Homan, Deputy Director of Trade and Economic Policy, and David Vasquez, Senior Policy Analyst for Energy & Environment.
In this paper, AFPI outlines a strategy to address debanking, a pernicious practice that has politically targeted conservative public figures, faith-based organizations, and ordinary citizens by limiting their access to financial services. A more permanent solution is needed, and the authors have crafted five detailed policy recommendations to prevent this practice from robbing innocent Americans of economic freedom and opportunity. Each recommendation offers Congress an opportunity to prohibit banks from making decisions based on ideology and provide consistent policy solutions across the Nation.
