AFPI Responds to the Collapse of the Net Zero Banking Alliance
Washington, D.C.— The America First Policy Institute (AFPI) today issued the following statement from Ted Ellis, Campaign Director for Power America and Deputy Policy Director for Energy and the Environment, regarding the collapse of the UN-backed Net Zero Banking Alliance (NZBA):
“The decision to cease operations of the Net Zero Banking Alliance is a major victory for American energy dominance, consumers, and economic freedom. For years, the NZBA used cartel-like pressure to deny financing to oil, gas, and coal projects – our most affordable and reliable energy sources – in pursuit of an unrealistic ‘net zero by 2025’ agenda. That effort drove up costs, undermined grid reliability, and hurt the world’s most vulnerable communities, all while doing nothing to change the basic fact that the American and global economies run on reliable energy.”
“The collapse of the NZBA under antitrust scrutiny and market reality shows what we’ve long argued: coercive climate finance schemes cannot withstand economic truth. America and the world need more energy, not less. The path forward is clear – end discrimination against financing oil, gas, coal, and nuclear projects, and restore banks to their proper mission: serving customers, not enforcing political agendas.”
AFPI’s Power America campaign will continue advancing policies that ensure access to affordable, reliable energy for every American. The fall of the NZBA marks a turning point toward U.S. energy dominance and the prosperity and security that come with it.
