AFPI Welcomes Great American Recovery Initiative, Stresses Need to Stop Fentanyl

Bella Grabowski January 30, 2026

Washington, D.C.—Bella Grabowski, Campaign Director of American Sovereignty at the America First Policy Institute (AFPI), released the following statement about the Great American Recovery Initiative

“The addiction crisis is tearing families apart and robbing communities of sons, daughters, parents, and friends—nowhere more visibly than the fentanyl epidemic that continues to claim lives every single day. This is not an abstract policy problem; it is a national tragedy playing out in homes and neighborhoods across America.

At the America First Policy Institute, our work has made clear that recovery and treatment must be part of a broader, serious response—one that secures the border, holds traffickers and cartels accountable, and prevents deadly drugs from reaching our communities in the first place.

Through this Executive Order and his work to secure the border, President Trump is the first to truly fight the international war on drugs while also working to end the resulting addiction crisis here at home. Thanks to President Trump, the Administration has seized 47 million fentanyl pills and 10,000 pounds of fentanyl powder, making American families and neighborhoods safer. The Great American Recovery Initiative will take a whole of government approach and work with federal, state, and private sector partners to support addiction recovery, treatment and prevention. As policymakers consider new recovery initiatives, AFPI stands ready to advance America First, whole of government solutions that stop the flow of fentanyl and give American families a real chance at healing and lasting recovery.”
