America First Policy Institute Applauds Trump Administration for Progress in Uncovering the Root Causes of Autism
Washington, D.C.— The America First Policy Institute (AFPI) commends the Trump administration for advancing gold-standard science with their work toward uncovering the root causes of autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
Autism affects about 1 in 31 children in the U.S., according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). That’s a striking increase from just two years ago, when 1 in 36 children were diagnosed with ASD, and a five-fold increase from 2000, when 1 in 150 children were diagnosed with autism.
“President Trump and Secretary Kennedy promised a return to gold-standard science, which includes a first-of-its-kind, whole-of-healthcare approach into the root causes of autism. Parents and families of individuals with ASD—including my own—have been asking public health officials for more information on the disorder and its causes and have been met with disdain or disparagement. Today, that changes with the historic announcement on new promising therapies, new risk factors, and new funding opportunities to better treat and understand ASD,” said Greg Sindelar, Interim President and CEO of AFPI.
“This historic investigation fulfills the Administration’s promise to let patients and doctors make the best decisions for themselves by providing transparency into all new information, rather than rely on Fauci-style, bureaucrat-led public health decisions.”
“When it comes to products like acetaminophen, we applaud the Administration for transparently providing all information, including new risk factors, and urge the FDA to continue to ensure that manufacturers disclose any potential risks so families can make informed decisions. The health of America’s children is too important for delay, deflection, or denial.”
