Chad Wolf joined CNN News Central to discuss the border crisis.
Former Acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf appeared on CNN News Central to critique President Biden's recent executive actions on immigration. Wolf criticized Biden's measures, which include capping asylum and allowing mixed-status families to stay together, as ineffective and politically motivated.
Wolf argued that the Biden administration's policies are not addressing the core issues at the border. He claimed that the administration is not removing undocumented individuals from the interior of the country, despite having enforcement mechanisms in place. He emphasized that many of these individuals have been in the U.S. for an average of 23 years and have had opportunities to adjust their status legally through existing processes.
Wolf highlighted that the administration's focus on keeping families together overlooks the longstanding waiver process that allows illegal alien spouses to regularize their status by returning to their home countries briefly. He asserted that these policies are merely searching for problems to solve, rather than addressing the real issues at the border, such as the fentanyl crisis and cartel violence.
Wolf concluded by stating that any new administration must prioritize border security to control illegal immigration and protect American communities from the adverse effects of current policies. He stressed that without addressing the border crisis, the Department of Homeland Security would be overwhelmed, unable to effectively manage and vet incoming individuals.
