Government Shutdown Delays Travelers Amidst Push for Perks for Illegal Aliens
Washington, D.C. — Today, the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) issued the following statement from Chad Wolf, Executive Vice President, Chief Strategy Officer & Chair of Homeland Security & Immigration, regarding the ongoing government shutdown:
“The
government shutdown is causing delays and longer lines at airports across the
country, and millions of Americans are paying the price. The Transportation
Security Administration (TSA) continues operating, but most of its 64,000
employees are required to work without immediate pay. At the same time, air
traffic controllers—also essential federal workers—are facing financial stress,
leading to sick-outs and ground stops that are further slowing travel. The
result: hours-long delays for families, business travelers, and everyone trying
to get home.
Every extra minute Americans spend stuck in an airport line is a direct result of political games. America-Last lawmakers have made it clear: they will only reopen the government if it includes taxpayer-funded healthcare for illegal aliens, prioritizing handouts for those who broke our laws over the needs of American travelers.
It’s time to end the shutdown, reopen the government, and put Americans first."
