TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Growing up in a small blue-collar town in New Jersey, life was simple, but it wasn’t easy. My dad worked in a factory, and my mom stayed home to raise my three sisters and me. We weren’t handed anything. If we wanted something, we had to work for it.
My dad used to tell me, “There’s no free lunch in life.” I took that to heart.
I started working part-time at 13—cutting lawns, shoveling snow, delivering newspapers—and I haven’t stopped working since. I learned early that owning a home wasn’t just about having a roof over your head; it was about pride, stability, and building wealth. At 22, I bought my first home and achieved my piece of the American Dream.
