Watch: AFPI Takes Legal Action Against OSAA For Violating Girls’ Free Speech

Jessica Hart Steinmann, Executive General Counsel at the America First Policy Institute (AFPI), is leading legal action on behalf of Oregon high school athletes Alexa Anderson and Reese Eckard, who were removed from a medals ceremony after refusing to share the podium with a biological male competitor at the 2025 Oregon State Track & Field Championships. Steinmann condemned Oregon officials for infringing on the girls’ First Amendment rights and selectively enforcing policies—allowing transgender-identifying male athletes to bypass rules while punishing dissenting female athletes: “Instead of respecting their viewpoint that girls’ sports should be for girls only, Oregon officials sidelined them.”
