Kansas SB 244 Reinforces Sex-Based Protections in State Law
Washington, D.C.—The America First Policy Institute (AFPI) issued the following statement from Stephanie Whitt, Chief State Action and Engagement Officer, in response to Kansas lawmakers’ decision to override Governor Laura Kelly’s veto of the state’s transgender bathroom ban, ensuring that women will no longer be forced to share private spaces with biological men in public buildings.
“Kansas lawmakers have taken an important and bold step to stand up for women and girls by restoring clarity, common sense, fairness, and safety to state law and affirming that sex is a biological reality.
Establishing a uniform definition of sex ensures that private and sensitive spaces like restrooms and locker rooms remain protected for all women. By overriding the veto, Kansas leaders have made it clear that protecting privacy and upholding the truth remains a fundamental responsibility of our state government.”
