Nuclear Licensing Held Hostage to Fund Healthcare for Illegal Aliens
Washington, D.C.—Today, the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) issued the following statement from Ted Ellis, Campaign Director of Power America and Deputy Director of Energy and Environment, regarding the government shutdown and its impact on nuclear innovation:
“American innovation is being stalled by Washington politics during this government shutdown. Advanced nuclear projects like TerraPower's Natrium plant, which had been ahead of schedule for licensing, now face uncertainty as the Nuclear Regulatory Commission cannot operate at full capacity.
This shutdown is slowing the development of affordable, reliable energy needed to power the next generation of technologies. Private-sector innovators are working to secure America’s energy and technological future, a critical national security issue—but bureaucratic delays are holding progress back at every turn.
Meanwhile, radicals in Congress are using the shutdown as leverage to prioritize federal spending decisions—like healthcare for illegal aliens—over advancing American innovation and protecting national security. Lawmakers must reopen the government and put the future of the American people and the nation first.”
