Radicals Target Rural Health to Fund Health Care for Illegal Aliens
Washington, D.C.—Today, the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) issued the following statement from Hannah Anderson, Director of Healthy America and Senior Director of Policy, regarding the government shutdown:
“The ongoing shutdown is putting rural Americans’ health at risk while pushing taxpayer-funded healthcare for illegal aliens. The version of the continuing resolution pushed by radical liberals would repeal the groundbreaking Rural Health Transformation Fund—a $50 billion capital investment administered by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to support rural communities, which have just 30 doctors per 100,000 patients compared with 263 per 100,000 in urban areas.
It is not America First to rob rural communities of life-saving funding in order to reopen the California loophole, which uses Medicaid to pay for the health care of illegal aliens in the state.
Congress must reopen the government and maintain the Working Families Tax Cuts reforms so rural Americans can access the care they need, instead of letting partisanship put patients’ health at risk.”
