Re-Open the Government to Pay Federal Firefighters

Washington, D.C.—Today, the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) issued the following statement from Jenn Pellegrino, AFPI’s Chief Spokesperson, regarding the ongoing government shutdown:

"Our federal firefighters are among the bravest Americans. These are men and women who run toward danger, battling deadly wildfires, to protect lives, homes, and communities. Yet during this government shutdown, these heroes are being asked to risk their lives without pay. That is unacceptable."

"This crisis is not because of them. It is because liberals insist on holding funding hostage to push reckless spending and their Green New Scam. Instead of standing with our firefighters, they are using them as bargaining chips."

"Conservatives have already voted to keep the government open and ensure our firefighters receive the support they deserve. Bad actors in Congress have chosen politics over public safety. It is time to put America’s heroes first, end the games, and fund our government responsibly."
