Steve Moore joined Mornings with Maria on Fox Business to discuss the recent jobs report.
Steve Moore, a renowned economist, appeared on "Mornings with Maria" on Fox Business to analyze the latest jobs report. Moore highlighted a concerning trend in the American economy: the disproportionate growth of government and healthcare jobs compared to the private sector.
Moore noted that the fastest-growing sectors over the past year have been healthcare and government, including university jobs, which are often tied to government funding. He expressed concern about the government's outsized role in sustaining the economy, stating, "The government kind of carrying the economy on its shoulders cannot persist."
While acknowledging slight wage gains, Moore questioned why more people are not rejoining the workforce, despite the economy being in a recovery phase. He emphasized that a healthy recovery should see an increase in workforce participation, but current trends show the opposite. "We should be seeing people joining the workforce. That is bad news for the American economy," Moore asserted.
Moore's analysis points to a critical issue: the need for a more balanced job growth across various sectors. The reliance on government-related employment is not a sustainable path for long-term economic health. For the American economy to thrive, Moore suggests a stronger emphasis on stimulating private sector growth and encouraging workforce participation.
