Senior Counsel, Center for Litigation
Originally from a small town in Connecticut, Andrew Zimmitti lives in Fairfax County, Virginia, and serves as Senior Counsel for AFPI’s Center for Litigation.
Prior to joining AFPI, Andrew spent twenty-six years in Washington, D.C. representing clients in high-stakes commercial and white-collar litigation, and in complex regulatory matters involving foreign investment transactions (CFIUS), economic sanctions compliance and enforcement (OFAC), and BSA/AML (FinCEN) and consumer financial (CFPB) enforcement. Over the course of his career in private law, Andrew has successfully represented a diverse clientele, including multinational corporations, financial institutions and fintech companies, federal government contractors, and high-net worth individuals across various industries such as defense, financial services, aerospace, media, education, and energy.
Following law school, Andrew served in the United States Navy as a judge advocate where he tried cases before military courts-martial and administrative separation boards. He received his Juris Doctor degree from Georgetown University Law Center in 1995 and a Bachelor of the Arts degree from the University of Chicago in 1991.
While not practicing law, Andrew enjoys flying as a private pilot and spending time with his family—his wife, Laura, and his daughters, Mia and Violet.
