AFPI Applauds EPA Decision to Rescind 2009 Endangerment Finding
Washington, DC – The America First Policy Institute (AFPI) released the following statement from Jason Hayes, Director, Energy and Environment in response to news that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has rescinded the 2009 greenhouse gas “Endangerment Finding”:
“This is a critical step toward restoring common sense in climate policy. The rule had become a weapon for sweeping and burdensome regulation, such as electric vehicle mandates, that was driven by a radical environmental agenda.
The United States has shown time and again that we can achieve a cleaner environment, including clear skies and waters, without aggressive climate catastrophist mandates. By using an America First approach to fossil fuels, we can build a country that balances the need for safety and environmental care with economic growth. The Endangerment Finding was unlawful, unscientific, and unnecessary to provide the clean and productive environment that Americans desire and deserve.”
This announcement ends all off-cycle credits and EPA incentives for automakers to install technologies, such as the unpopular “stop-start” button at stoplights, to comply with federal greenhouse gas standards. As a result, the EPA expects repeal of the rule will save a staggering 1.3 trillion dollars in regulatory costs for the American people.
