AFPI Applauds Return of Education to the States
WASHINGTON, D.C.—President Trump promised to end the Department of Education. The America First Policy Institute applauds Education Secretary Linda McMahon’s announcement of six new Interagency Agreements (IAAs), a pivotal step toward fulfilling that promise. AFPI continues to champion the President’s commitment to returning control of education to the states.
The announced IAAs will leverage the expertise and experience of partnering Cabinet agencies to eliminate bureaucratic bloat, improve service delivery, and return authority and control of education to the states. They will preserve program service levels and responsiveness while reducing costs and giving states more flexibility to meet the needs of students and families.
AFPI's Vice Chair for Education Opportunity Michael Shires noted, “This action will shrink our bloated federal education bureaucracy and refocus our programs on actual student needs instead of federal political agendas.”
AFPI thanks both Secretary McMahon and President Trump for their continued commitment and decisive action to restore greatness to the American education system.
