AFPI Applauds White House Commitment to Crack Down on Fraud Targeting Taxpayer-Funded Programs
Washington D.C.—Today, Vice President JD Vance announced the creation of a new Department of Justice division for national fraud enforcement, including a new Assistant Attorney General role to lead coordinated, nationwide anti-fraud efforts. The America First Policy Institute (AFPI) issued the following statement from Brett Tolman, Chair for Law & Justice:
“We welcome this decisive step to protect Americans’ hard-earned tax dollars and bring real consequences to organized fraud schemes. As months of AFPI research have shown, Minnesota has become a case study in what happens when oversight breaks down and red flags are ignored. This lack of leadership has allowed massive abuse of taxpayer-funded programs to persist for years—all while government officials were either unaware, willfully looking the other way, or potentially complicit.
The American people deserve assurance that their money is being used responsibly by the government. Fraud networks are dismantled by prioritizing enforcement and treating taxpayer theft like the serious crime it is. A dedicated national fraud enforcement division, empowered to coordinate across agencies and jurisdictions, is exactly the kind of focused leadership needed to stop sophisticated fraud operations, recover stolen funds, and restore public trust.”
