AFPI Celebrates Major SCOTUS Win for Parental Rights
WASHINGTON, D.C.—The America First Policy Institute (AFPI) applauds the Supreme Court for signaling its strong support for parental rights in the case of Mirabelli v. Bonta. In its order, the Court reinstated a prior injunction preventing California schools from having policies that hide gender transitions from parents or compel school staff to call a student by names or pronouns inconsistent with their biological sex.
“These practices are harmful and make it utterly impossible for parents to help their children through mental health struggles,” said Leigh Ann O’Neill, chief legal affairs officer at AFPI. “Parents have been lied to by California schools for too long, and I applaud the Court for the clarity it provided: fit parents are best to direct their children’s upbringing—not teachers or school staff."
AFPI applauds the teachers in this case for standing for morality and being unwilling to reject their religious beliefs regarding biological sex. AFPI will continue to advocate for the rights of parents as the primary decision makers for their children, as well as the right of children to grow up without being tampered with by ideologues.
