AFPI Marks National Agriculture Day as Leaders Gather in Washington to Honor American Agriculture
Washington, D.C.—Today, the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) issued the following statement from T.J. Wilson, Deputy Director of Rural Policy, recognizing National Agriculture Day and the White House’s celebration of American farmers:
“National Agriculture Day is an opportunity to recognize the farmers, ranchers, and producers who sustain our nation—not just on March 24 and at today's White House celebration, but every day of the year.
As the White House convenes leaders, producers, and students to celebrate American agriculture today, it is a reminder that the strength of our food system begins with the men and women working the land. Their work underpins our economy, strengthens rural communities, and ensures a safe, abundant, and affordable food supply for Americans.
With global demand for food, fiber, and energy continuing to rise, policymakers must remain focused on advancing solutions that expand market access, reduce input costs, and invest in the long-term success of rural America. Because of labeling changes, American consumers now know if their food is actually from the U.S. when they shop in grocery stores.
Agriculture has driven American prosperity for 250 years. Ensuring that legacy continues requires a renewed commitment to policies that put farmers first and keep the United States the world’s leading agricultural producer.”
