Another Federal Judge Prevents Progress at the Department of Education

Washington, D.C. – Today, the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) issued the following statement from Dr. Michael Shires, Vice Chair of Education Opportunity, regarding the preliminary injunction issued to prevent the dismantling of the Department of Education:

"Today’s ruling by Judge Myong Joun blocking the Trump Administration’s efforts to streamline and eventually eliminate the Department of Education is yet another example of judicial overreach. In this case, a single judge has unilaterally blocked executive action aimed at reforming, realigning and cleaning up the bloat in American bureaucracy. A single unelected judge should not be able to circumvent the will of the American people and mandate the rehiring of thousands of federal bureaucrats.

This ruling should be appealed and reversed. President Trump and Secretary McMahon should continue to seek efficiencies in the federal processes and services under their purview, including the right to hire and fire employees in the rightful exercise of their executive authority."
