Budget Resolution Critical to Unlock Growth and Security Agenda to Save America

WASHINGTON, D.C.—In response to Republican leaders in Congress announcing plans to move a budget resolution forward this week, Greg Sindelar, President and CEO of the America First Policy Institute, made the following statement:

“President Trump and America First members of Congress are working tirelessly to deliver on critical America First policy priorities. This budget resolution is a critical first step to enacting a third reconciliation package that will promote economic growth and national security, building on the incredible success of the Working Families Tax Cuts, and bring even greater prosperity to families across our Nation.”

The House Budget Committee announced plans to move a budget resolution forward at the committee level. This action unlocks the pathway to a growth and security agenda. The policy recommendations outlined by the America First Policy Institute (here) include:

• Keeping America safe by fully funding national security, replenishing our munitions, and ending sanctuary cities (though these items are non-reconcilable, reauthorizing FISA is a priority);
• Securing our elections by requiring voter ID;
• Keeping our children safe by ending men and boys in girls’ sports, and banning child sex mutilation;
• Growing our economy, including doubling the exclusion of capital gains for the sale of owner-occupied housing;
• Ending corruption and the abuse of taxpayer money by codifying fraud reforms identified by Vice President Vance and the Fraud Task Force.
