AFPI Releases Letter from Mayors Urging Congress to Advance SAVE America Act
WASHINGTON, D.C. — This week, the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) released a letter from a coalition of mayors urging Congress to advance the SAVE America Act and strengthen election security nationwide.
The mayors argue that secure and transparent elections are essential to maintaining public confidence in America’s democratic institutions and then call for commonsense safeguards, including voter identification requirements and measures to ensure that only eligible U.S. citizens are registered to vote.
“Americans should have confidence that their elections are secure and that their voices are protected,” said Scott Singer, Chair of the America First Mayors’ Council and former Mayor of Boca Raton, Florida. “Voter ID is a commonsense safeguard that helps ensure the integrity of our elections while preserving access for every eligible American citizen. Congress should act to strengthen these basic protections.”
“Election integrity is fundamental to maintaining trust in our communities and institutions,” said Jondavid Longo, Mayor of Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania. “Every eligible citizen should be able to vote, and every American should know that our elections are secure, transparent, and conducted according to clear rules. Congress has an opportunity to deliver these critical protections.”
The letter urges Congress to use every available legislative opportunity, including reconciliation, to advance the SAVE America Act and send election-integrity protections to President Trump’s desk. The America First Policy Institute published its top five reconciliation priorities to unlock a growth and security agenda critical to saving America in June.
