DOGE Turns One: Delivering Transparency and Cutting Waste in Washington
Washington, D.C.—Today, the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) released the following statement in recognition of the one-year anniversary of President Trump’s executive order to establish the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE):
“President Trump has ushered in a new era of accountability in the federal government. Perhaps the greatest example of this was the creation of DOGE, which exposed widespread waste, duplicative or unnecessary programs, radical left-wing pet projects, and hidden spending that did not serve the best interests of the American people. DOGE changed that by shining a light on how Washington operates and proving that accountability is possible.
AFPI supports making these reforms permanent so federal agencies serve Americans, not bureaucrats, not special interests, and not woke activism. DOGE is one of the most important and long-lasting reforms brought by the Trump Administration. And the country is much better for it.”
For more background, read AFPI’s April 2025 fact sheet, “DOGE Takes Real Action to Curb Government Waste,” which outlines the executive orders establishing DOGE and details reforms already underway to streamline agencies, eliminate inefficiencies, and protect taxpayer resources.
