Statement on Reconciliation

Greg Sindelar June 9, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The America First Policy Institute (AFPI) issued the following statement ahead of Congress’s vote on the reconciliation bill to fund the Department of Homeland Security (DHS):

Forcing Americans to endure yet another unnecessary government funding fight while threatening their safety and security is a slap in the face to taxpayers and a dereliction of duty. Refusing to fully fund the Department of Homeland Security, including U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, has devastating consequences including historic wait times at airports and increased security vulnerabilities during an already heightened threat environment,” said Greg Sindelar, AFPI Interim President and CEO.Thank you, Speaker Johnson, Leader Thune, and America First leaders in Congress for prioritizing the interests of the American people.”

AFPI will continue advancing and supporting policies that strengthen border security and defend the sovereignty of our nation. To learn more, click here.
