Georgia Missed Its Chance to Fix the SNAP Loophole

Georgians believe in helping neighbors who are struggling. That belief is exactly why programs like the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) exist. The program was designed to provide temporary help to families who truly need assistance putting food on the table.

But when a safety net loses accountability, public trust begins to erode, and Georgia now faces that problem.

Today, SNAP provides more than $3.5 billion in annual benefits to Georgians. While those benefits are funded by the federal government, the program is administered here at home by the Georgia Department of Human Services.
