Stand With Kayleigh: AFPI Applauds Senator Lee for Introducing Kayleigh’s Law

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The America First Policy Institute (AFPI) applauds U.S. Senator Mike Lee for introducing Kayleigh’s Law in the U.S. Senate. This legislation would ensure that victims would not have to continuously return to court to request protection from their abusers.

“The harm caused by sexual assault is lifelong; the protection for survivors must be lifelong too. I thank Senator Lee for introducing the Senate companion bill for Kayleigh’s Law. Having both chambers of Congress now moving forward on Kayleigh’s Law shows how important these permanent protections are for survivors,” said AFPI’s own Kayleigh Kozak.

“Kayleigh’s Law reflects a simple truth: justice should not come with an expiration date for victims. When the system allows dangerous offenders back into a victim’s life, it fails its most basic responsibility,” said Brett Tolman, Chair of American Justice at AFPI. “Courts should have the authority to stand with survivors for the long term, and Kayleigh’s Law makes that possible.”

AFPI urges Congress to work swiftly to advance Kayleigh’s Law. Survivors deserve strong, lasting protections. The harms they have experienced should never have to be relived in courtrooms, when the law can offer a permanent solution to protect them.
