Alex Krutz
Fellow, Economy and Trade
Alex Krutz serves as a fellow, Economy and Trade Policy at AFPI, where he focuses on strengthening America's manufacturing competitiveness, advancing industrial strategy, and developing policies that promote resilient supply chains, domestic production, and economic security.
During President Trump's second term, Krutz served as deputy assistant secretary for manufacturing at the U.S. Department of Commerce, leading the Office of Manufacturing Industries, the federal government's principal advocate for advancing the competitiveness of U.S. manufacturing. He led a team of 65 trade specialists and supported industry engagement, bilateral trade initiatives, Section 232 investigations, and national economic security efforts that advanced the America First Trade Policy.
Krutz is the founder and managing director of Patriot Industrial Partners, an industrial advisory firm that helps manufacturers, investors, and business leaders improve operational performance, strengthen supply chains, and execute strategic initiatives. A U.S. Army veteran, he brings more than two decades of leadership experience across aerospace, defense, industrial manufacturing, and supply chain operations. He earned a Master of Business Administration from San Diego State University and a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Kansas.
