Dustin Chambers

Dustin Chambers was born and raised in Fresno, California and serves as a Senior Advisor in the Office for Fiscal and Regulatory Analysis at AFPI. He is an economist specializing in regulation, applied econometrics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. Before joining AFPI, he served on President Trump's Council of Economic Advisers as the Senior Economist for Regulations and was a Professor of Economics at Salisbury University for over twenty years. Chambers is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Regulatory Economics and has published 30 peer reviewed articles in academic journals, as well as numerous policy papers for organizations such as the Mercatus Center and National Governors Association. In 2024, he was a Visiting Fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University using Large Language Models to study the impact of state regulations on small businesses. Chambers received his Ph.D. in economics from the University of California, Riverside. He lives with his wife on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
