AFPI Announces New Foreign Policy Initiative, Names Ambassador Carla Sands as Chair
Washington D.C.—The America First Policy Institute (AFPI) is pleased to announce the creation of the new Foreign Policy Initiative, with Ambassador Carla Sands leading the effort as chair.
In her new role, Ambassador Sands will spearhead AFPI’s commitment to advancing America First principles abroad while strengthening the United States’ diplomatic, trade, and security partnerships. Building upon the success of the Ambassadors Initiative, her mission is clear: enhance American security and prosperity, roll back the influence of globalism and anti-humanism across the U.S. interagency, and promote national security strategies that put the American people first. The initiative will be comprised of an elite cohort of former U.S. ambassadors dedicated to strengthening a sovereignty-focused mindset amongst our allies around the world.
Ambassador Sands joined AFPI during the organization’s formative stages as Vice Chair for Energy & Environment. Before joining AFPI, she served as Chairman & CEO of Vintage Capital Group and as the U.S. Ambassador to the Kingdom of Denmark during the first Trump Administration. Since joining AFPI, she has been a strong champion for restoring American energy dominance and advocate of next-generation technologies to accelerate energy innovation.
“Ambassador Sands has been an integral part of the AFPI team since 2022,” said interim President and CEO Greg Sindelar. “We’re proud to have her leading our new Foreign Policy Initiative. Her deep experience in both the private sector and diplomatic service uniquely positions her to drive this effort forward with clarity and strategic vision.”
Ambassador Sands shared her thoughts on her appointment:
“I’m delighted to support the growth of AFPI as chair of the new Foreign Policy Initiative. This coalition of former U.S. ambassadors will collaborate closely with AFPI's policy experts for national security, trade, energy, and immigration. Together we will support strategic diplomatic engagement and develop a lasting policy framework that future leaders can build upon.”
