AFPI Celebrates Nationwide Children’s Hospital for Ending Dangerous Drug Treatment for Minors
Washington, D.C. — Emily Moreno, Deputy Director of State Action and Executive Director of the America First Policy Institute's (AFPI) Ohio Chapter commends Nationwide Children's Hospital for its courageous and principled decision on September 5, 2025, to cease providing dangerous, life-altering drugs to minor children under the guise of "affirming" care. This decision reflects a commitment to prioritizing the long-term health and well-being of young patients over ideological and political pressures.
"This policy change is a victory for Ohio families and children," Moreno said. "By halting the use of irreversible drugs and focusing on behavioral health, Nationwide Children's Hospital is ensuring that kids under their care have the opportunity to grow up healthy and whole, with their physical and mental well-being protected. This decision strengthens the quality of life for families across our state by prioritizing safe, compassionate care."
We also applaud Nationwide Children's Hospital for continuing to support these young individuals with compassionate behavioral and mental health services. With this as the sole focus, the hospital is protecting the physical autonomy and natural development of children, ensuring they receive appropriate support without irreversible interventions.
"We hope Nationwide Children's Hospital's bold action sets a powerful example for others," said Dr. Jennifer Bauwens, Director of American Values at AFPI. "We urge hospitals nationwide to follow suit, prioritizing evidence-based, non-invasive care that safeguards the health and future of our children."
