AFPI Denounces the U.S. Senate’s Failure to Protect Our Elections and Our Republic

Greg Sindelar June 4, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, the America First Policy Institute’s CEO and President Greg Sindelar, made the following statement after the U.S. Senate’s latest failure to advance the SAVE America Act, which is a disappointing setback in restoring integrity to our federal elections:

"Voter ID is a quintessential 80:20 issue and yet the Senate failed to pull this off despite President Trump’s consistent and resilient leadership. Voters stand on the side of voter ID, so why don’t our elected officials?,” said Mr. Sindelar. "This is not an indictment of the SAVE America Act; it’s an indictment on those who think proving citizenship to register to vote and having a basic ID to place a vote—the same ID you need to buy beer or drive a vehicle—is burdensome. It should be easy to vote and hard to cheat—and the SAVE America Act offered that balance."

Loopholes have allowed vulnerabilities in our elections that must be put to an end. The America First Policy Institute will not be set back by this failure of America-last U.S. Senators. Our efforts to reinforce our elections at the federal and state levels have only begun.
